Program Description

At Bryn Athyn College, education is studied in a spiritual context. The work of a special educator requires an open heart and mind. Our program begins with a course designed to cultivate the art of awareness. We believe that a reflective practice of careful observation will strengthen the connection between your teaching practice and its impact on your students.

Whether you are looking for a meaningful change to your current career or are looking to add the PA Pre-K-12 special education certification to your existing certification, our program will offer you a deeper ability to meet students' needs with learning differences.

About the School

Founded in 1877, Bryn Athyn College is a small, private, coeducational, liberal arts college dedicated to a New Church approach to education. The curriculum pairs rigorous academics with spiritual inquiry and emphasizes critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, public presentation, and experiential education. Bryn Athyn's classes are small, with an average class size of 14 students and a student-faculty ratio of 7:1. The 130-acre campus is located in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, just 14 miles north of center-city Philadelphia.

A Bryn Athyn College education will challenge you to think independently, write clearly, develop your ideas, and decide what you stand for. The pairing of challenging academics with spiritual inquiry gives you creative space to explore your spiritual convictions and examine the deeper significance of your coursework. Your education here will help you succeed in graduate school, in your career, and in life.
