Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology

The demand for knowledgeable, well qualified CT technologists is rising and is expected to continue outpacing other occupations. The continuing evolution of multislice scanners changes and expands the technologists’ responsibility in data acquisition, reconstruction, and post-processing. Protocols are becoming more elaborate and on the job training is no longer meeting today’s technologists' educational needs.

The CT Imaging Technology certificate curriculum prepares the individual to use specialized equipment to visualize cross-sectional anatomical structures and aid physicians in demonstrating pathologies and disease processes. Individuals entering this curriculum must hold a primary registry in radiography or radiation therapy by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or nuclear medicine technology by the ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Course work prepares technologists to provide patient care and perform studies utilizing imaging equipment, professional communication, and quality assurance in scheduled and emergency procedures through academic and clinical studies.

Forsyth Tech has been serving the citizens of Forsyth and Stokes counties since 1960. We began as the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Industrial Education Center, offering vocational instruction and training in skilled trades.

Today, as Forsyth Technical Community College, we still offer those programs, as well as college transfer and two-year degree programs, corporate training, continuing education, personal enrichment classes and much more.
