This course addresses ethical, social, cultural, and environmental issues in product design, fostering new approaches for social and ecological change. By studying sustainable materials, and prototyping technologies like additive manufacturing and nanotechnology, it extends user-centred analysis into inclusive design based on Universal Design principles. The course covers high-performance products for sports, fashion, and implant engineering, focusing on enhancing physical and mental well-being while creating ethical-material alliances between humans and technology.
IED’s educational approach is based on a simple yet effective model: the combination of theory with practice, enriched by the expertise of professionals from the industry who bring their knowledge directly into the classroom. Additionally, students are challenged with real briefs and projects thanks to strong partnerships with leading companies and agencies built over the years.
IED is an inclusive, transdisciplinary school that uses design as a universal language for change, encouraging its students to shape the world through the power of their ideas.
