Program Description

The Teaching Online Certificate (TOC) program offered through Martin Luther College (MLC) is designed for educators seeking to develop and enhance the skills and strategies needed to become highly effective online teachers. Participants that complete the program will demonstrate proficiency in the design, construction, and teaching of online courses through a learning management system (LMS). Teachers can use the certificate to demonstrate that they are qualified to design and construct online courses and teach in an online environment.

All courses will be available through online instruction. Participants who complete 9 credits of TOC program coursework will be issued a Teaching Online Certificate through MLC. Depending on course selection, the 9 credits earned in the TOC program can transfer directly into the Master of Science in Education program offered through MLC.

About the School

Martin Luther College Office of Continuing Education offers many online and satellite courses that provide training for early childhood directors and teachers, elementary teachers, principals, high school teachers, staff ministers, and lay workers.

Martin Luther College is owned and operated by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). Formed from an amalgamation of Dr. Martin Luther College (founded in 1884) and Northwestern College (founded in 1865), Martin Luther College opened its doors to the next generation of church workers in 1995.

Our mission is to empower every Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod educator and staff minister for every ministry stage.
