BS in Sociology

Sociology is the scientific study of human behavior, especially as social groups and cultural influence it. A distinctive feature of the program is the integration of theory and research utilizing significant computer applications. Students investigate how human behavior is influenced by culture and social environment, integrating relevant theory and contemporary research.

In the Department of Sociology and Social Work at Mississippi College, we approach our discipline from a unique Christian perspective. We are dedicated to nurturing every individual's human dignity and fighting for the principles of equality, justice, and freedom. We encourage students to examine their own values, their relationship to their social environment, and their role in the community from a global perspective inspired by faith.
