Why SWOSU is the Place for Engineering Technology

The Department of Engineering Technology encourages hands-on learning in our industry based labs. We offer our students the opportunity to work with and analyze many different materials. Our students enjoy designing and building various projects during their time at SWOSU.

We offer two student organizations, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the Society of Women Engineers. We also compete in the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge and host the First Tech Robotics Challenge.

Accreditation

The SWOSU Department of Engineering Technology is recognized by two accrediting bodies.

• The manufacturing option within the Engineering Technology degree is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC)of ABET.
• The Industrial Technology degree is accredited by the Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE)

Careers

Career opportunities are numerous in all our areas of study. Recent placement rates upon graduation have been high. Our graduates command competitive salaries. Examples of recent graduates' entry positions are manufacturing engineer, production technologist, quality assurance engineer, field engineer, continuous improvement technician, production supervisor, production analyst, planner-schedulers, skilled electrical and mechanical technician, and project manager.

Established in 1901, SWOSU is located in Weatherford, Oklahoma (just 60 some miles west of Oklahoma City). Southwestern Oklahoma State University offers affordable and reputable graduate and undergraduate degree programs online and on-campus (locations in Weatherford, Sayre, and Yukon).

Today SWOSU educates more than 5,000 students a semester and employs more than 200 dedicated faculty and staff. We hold more than 1,000 classes a semester, have 14 nationally accredited programs, and are nationally recognized for our online programs.
