This term is coined by Japanese industry in the 1970s -the time of development of the first industrial robots- and has, among other immediate antecedents, research in the area of cybernetics, numerical control machines, manipulators and automata. programmable. Today, robotics has come to be considered a generic term and yet, from a formal point of view, it could be considered a subset of Mechatronics.
