Program Description

The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department offers a program leading to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer or Electrical Engineering. The Ph.D. is a research-oriented degree awarded upon completion of a defined study program, demonstration of scholarly competence, a distinctive achievement in a special field, and demonstrated ability to do an independent, original investigation. Demonstration of substantial scholarly research accomplishments, rather than a mere accumulation of residence and course credits, is an essential consideration in awarding the Ph.D. degree.
