BA in Computer Science

The BA in Computer Science covers all aspects of modern computer science and the underlying theory and foundations in economics, law and business. Students develop practical skills, such as programming (in various languages, e.g. ML, Java, C/C++, Prolog) and hardware systems (e.g. chip design using Verilog). About half of our students work in the computer industry, while a fifth pursue further study and careers in teaching and research. Many graduates have founded companies or gained employment in software, hardware, the games industry, finance, communications and commerce.

Lucy Cavendish has a 50-year tradition of being the College that admits talented individuals from non-traditional and under-represented backgrounds. In doing so, it seeks particularly those who want ‘to make a difference’ or to have a positive impact’ on our societies and those who are committed to addressing our global challenges.
