BS in Geology and Geological Oceanography

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) emphasizes Geological Oceanography, including a comprehensive background in geosciences and a solid introduction to geological oceanography at the world-renowned URI Graduate School of Oceanography (GSO). Highlights of this major include a senior research project to be carried out under a GSO faculty member's direction.

The B.S. in Geology and Geological Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island is obtained through a combination of:

• General Education courses
• Supporting Science courses
• A core series of Geosciences courses; and
• A series of Oceanography courses, including an undergraduate research project.

We foster collaboration among our undergraduate and graduate students, staff, and faculty in experiential learning and provide opportunities for students to apply their knowledge beyond the University.

We address contemporary problems through innovative, relevant, and scholarly research. We extend our research-based knowledge through community engagement in our Land Grant and Sea Grant heritage tradition. We are dedicated to outreach and service to our state, national, and global community.
