Program Description

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) emphasizes Geological Oceanography, including a comprehensive background in geosciences and a solid introduction to geological oceanography at the world-renowned URI Graduate School of Oceanography (GSO). Highlights of this major include a senior research project to be carried out under a GSO faculty member's direction.

The B.S. in Geology and Geological Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island is obtained through a combination of:

  • General Education courses
  • Supporting Science courses
  • A core series of Geosciences courses; and
  • A series of Oceanography courses, including an undergraduate research project.
