Program Description

The Master of Divinity curriculum is a four-year integrated program of formation designed to fulfill all of the requirements of the Program of Priestly Formation. The classroom is formational in addition to being academic. Professors relate their own experiences of priestly ministry (whether as priests performing the ministry or laity receiving priestly ministry) to lessons of the subject.

The core curriculum offers a comprehensive presentation of the doctrine of faith. Field education offers experiences, which give context to the classroom lessons. Two internships allow the seminarian to work full-time in the parish and hospital settings. Mundelein’s aim is to produce generalists with depth, who are well prepared for the duties and tasks of the diocesan priesthood.

About the School

Our campus is home to Mundelein Seminary, the major seminary and school of theology for the Archdiocese of Chicago and beyond for nearly a century.

Located just north of Chicago, it is home to 150 seminarians from 30 dioceses across the country and around the world. Solidly grounded in prayer, pastoral formation and rigorous academic training, Mundelein Seminary’s distinctive curriculum includes an innovative Teaching Parish Program, two full-time internships, and a study-pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

Graduates of Mundelein are men of prayer whose hearts are burning to serve as a bridge between their people and the Lord. They are formed in tradition, trained in compassion, and prepared to shepherd.
